VE Crew were commissioned by Modern TV to supply technical facilities and crew for series two of Quizeum – the part quiz, part panel show presented by Griff Rhys Jones.
Shooting at six iconic museum locations across England and Scotland over the past two months, we provided seven C300 camera kits along with our mobile multi-viewing gallery and Panasonic AV-HS410 vision mixer.
Having previously worked on series one, we were already well versed with the shoot requirements but this time were also able to offer our new live cut facility. We recorded the mix externally on Pro Res 422 ‘ready to edit’ format, and in parallel a proxy (small file size) of the same edit with burnt timecode for the producers to take away with them straight after the show. We also looked after the data wrangling and playback.
During the programme we incorporated the quiz graphics into the mix and projected it into the contestants’ screens. We worked closely with DOP Nick Manley to create a customised cine look for the C300s and matched all the cameras prior to each shoot. The idea was to deliver a picture and edit as close to the final programme as possible to enable a quick turnaround for BBC broadcast.
We also supplied a creative lighting rig, using modern LED technology, Celeb 400s, 200s and bi-colour Dedo light kits, which were adjusted for each of the six location requirements.
